In Dan's Words: Forged from 52100 AISI steel. It has a 1000 grit finish. Fittings are stainless steel. Vitreous flux enamel is added to provide some eye candy. The green is coloring in one of the pieces is the addition of copper into the flux. The other is a basic black foundation flux. Foundation vitreous enamel flux fires at a somewhat higher temperature and has some cobalt added so that adheres/bonds with the stainless steel. These flux enamels get soft at around 700 to 800 degrees but actually do not flux into the metal and turn glassy until about 1550F.  It is all an eyeball art when done in the forge as I watch for the flux to turn glassy (i.e., get it too hot and it gets a rough finish).  Wood is a mystery wood in that I failed to write down what tree it comes from. South American I believe with wonderful grain showing these birdseyes. Very hard and durable.
