In Dan's Words: "This is a small utility knife with a desert ironwood handle. It is a full tang design with slight recurve on the blade. The blade is a three piece construction. The core steel is W2, a vanadium alloy steel with a carbon content of 1.05. It is sandwiched between two pieces of damascus. After forging, heat treating, and hand sanding the core steel is coated with an acid resist and then submerged in ferric chloride to etch everything except the W2 core steel. The damascus is basic random pattern 1095/15N20 steel. It is not etched very deep but just enough to see the pattern and keep the edge almost a mirror finish. I have done a few knives this way. Usually, they were fighters or bowie knives. But I thought it might be fun to do one that is small and functional."
