Spyderco's Uptern is an affordable lockback with great ergonomics, and features solid stainless steel handle scales and backspacer. It allows for multiple grip options, and the ability to choke up quite a bit for any type of fine detail work thanks to the finger choil and jimping on the blade spine. The blade locks securely with a classic lockback design. The partially serrated blade is great for tough cutting and ripping through ropes and line.
